Art Beat 2017 Community Art Project to feature Studebaker car parts

Each year, Art Beat invites members of the community to get in touch with their artistic side for the day, by way of the Community Art Project. The 2017 Community Art Project will combine South Bend’s prosperous past with its exciting present through the creation of two pieces of public art using old Studebaker car nosepieces.

Local artists Danny Sanchez and Aubrey Hittle have been commissioned to create designs that will be outlined and painted in by Art Beat visitors in a “color by number” fashion. The project will take place from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Studebaker Plaza. After the event, the pieces will be coated, fitted with lights and mounted in downtown for the public to enjoy for years to come.
