2018 Event Information for Visitors

Art Beat 2018 will take place Saturday, August 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Street Closings: Michigan St. and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd will both be closed from Colfax to Wayne. Additionally, Washington St. and Jefferson Blvd. will close from Michigan St. to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Due to construction, Colfax will also be closed between Main St. and Michigan St.

Parking: On-street parking is free throughout downtown on weekends. The Main St. Garage, Wayne St. Garage, and Leighton Garages will offer free parking. The Century Center lot will also be available for parking for a small fee. PLEASE NOTE: due to the Art Beat street closures on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., the Century Center parking lot will be opening up their back entrance, near the Jefferson Bridge, for exit and entry.

Downtown Specials and Events

Chicory Cafe (105 E. Jefferson Blvd.) will be having a Shrimp Boil from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

South Bend Brew Werks (216 S. Michigan St.) will be having a special Saturday breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon, with burritos, breakfast pizzas and scrambles.  Art Beat venders will receive 15% discount on their bill with proof of being a vendor. 

BEAR Reading Center (427 N. Main St.) will be having a Charity Car Show from noon to 4 p.m. to fund scholarships which will help to provide tutoring for children who have reading challenges. They will be giving a free school supply pack to the first 75 kids. They will also have a bookmark craft, food vendors, and book giveaways.

Art Beat After-Parties

Art Beat ends at 7 p.m., but the downtown excitement does not! Head to the places when Art Beat is over:

South Bend Latin Dance will be hosting an Art Beat Latin Dance Party, with a lesson at 8:30 pm. $5 cover, all ages welcome.

10 p.m. – 3 a.m.

"Trash x Treasures" w/Micki Miller, Heyzeus, & Trybe7. $5 cover, 21+


Art Beat 2018 Community Art Projects

This year we will have two Community Art Projects. One will be an interactive mural designed by local artist Rebecca Daublin, and the other will feature painted metal pieces that will be arranged artistically and placed throughout downtown as pop-up art pieces.
