The Exterior Enhancement matching grant is available to member businesses and organizations to provide assistance in funding well-designed building façade and streetscape improvements respecting the building’s history, original design integrity and adjacent structures and making a noticeable visual enhancement in the downtown area.

This is a rebate program, where grant recipients will be reimbursed 50% of the total amount spent on the qualifying portion of the project (minimum grant of $5,000 and maximum grant of $20,000.)
2024 THEME: VIBRANT DOWNTOWN

Preference will be given to projects that:

Improve the public and pedestrian environment of downtown South Bend

Improve the external appearance and lighting of storefronts in order to attract more customers and enhance the attractiveness of downtown South Bend

Activate unique spaces and businesses to create one-of-a-kind experiences
