A Christmas Miracle is coming to South Bend.

A collaboration between Render restaurant and The General Deli & Cafe will mean that people can sip on cocktails created by some of the world’s best bartenders. The South Bend pop-up bar is open between Black Friday and Christmas Eve and will feature the same drinks similar locations in Athens, Rio and New York City are offering.

Miracle At The General came to be after a conversation Bryan Robertson, one of Render’s owners, had in New Orleans at Tales of the Cocktail, one of the world’s biggest festivals for that craft. Like the other locations, the one in South Bend will offer holiday cocktails in a setting that is unmistakably Christmas.

“The place is going to look like an ugly Christmas sweater party threw up on the walls,” Robertson said. The General will get a Christmas makeover, which excites his wife and co-owner Hilary Maich, who will do much of the decorating. “Miracle is going to be the best,” she said. “I love Christmas and I had so much fun here at Render last Christmas.”

Cocktail Kingdom, which sells cocktail supplies, provides the drinkware. New York bartenders create the cocktails that Maggie Czech, Render’s bar manager, and other bartenders will make. Czech said mixologists from around South Bend and even the region will take turns wielding the cocktail shakers.
