SUMMER FITNESS

DTSB has partnered with local fitness organizations to provide a free outdoor summer fitness program at the Gridiron in downtown South Bend every Saturday morning to encourage healthy living. These free classes, begin at 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 10:00 a.m., include a mix of yoga, Zumba, Hip Hop, Grit, Barre, and more.

About

  • Classes are led by professional instructors from local health and fitness centers, as well as independent instructors. 

  • Classes are open to all ages and fitness levels.

  • All classes are held on the Gridiron in downtown South Bend, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather, classes will be canceled, but will still go on in light rain. Check the DTSB Facebook page for updates.

  • Participants will need to sign a waiver once per summer. 

  •  Hand sanitizer and bottled water will be made available but participants will need to provide their own yoga mats.

  • Participants should dress in appropriate clothing and footwear, and bring adequate fluids.

  • Free parking is available on the street and in the Leighton Parking Garage.

New this year - Summer Fitness Series will be a fundraiser for the FOod Bank of Northern Indiana! 

​

Participants are encouraged to bring a small donation for the Food Bank each week when possible. This is not required, but much appreciated! Click here for a list of the most needed items.

Beacon Health & Fitness (111 W. Jefferson Blvd.) is a medically-based, full-service fitness facility located in the heart of downtown South Bend. Their group exercise program includes a wide array of classes such as yoga, grit, water in motion, pilates and much more.

​

Bend Yoga (321 S. Main St.) offers several varieties of both indoor and outdoor yoga classes and a meditation room. They are located in the Hibberd Building.

​

Howard Park (219 S. St. Louis Blvd.) offers a variety of fitness classes throughout the week including Pound Fitness, Chair Yoga, and Mindful Yoga for All. 

​

Kroc Center (900 W. Western Ave.) offers group fitness classes that are designed to promote a fun workout experience with professional instructors and energetic classmates. They have over 15,000 square feet of state-of-the-art weight training equipment and cardiovascular machines.  A sample of the Kroc Center’s group fitness programs include: Zumba, Indoor Cycling, Aqua Aerobics, Power Kick, Yoga, and Pilates.

Therapeutic Indulgence (903 E. Jefferson Blvd.) is downtown South Bend’s premiere wellness center specializing in massage therapy, yoga, reflexology, skincare, waxing, and medical hypnosis. Our mission is to empower our clients with tools to help them achieve their wellness goals both at our spa and in their everyday lives.  We believe that by helping our clients achieve wellness, we help our community, because a community that is healthy, is a community that thrives.

Yoga for Everybody  (808 W. Washington St.) takes place Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at the Oliver Gardens - by the History Museum 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. May through September. All levels are welcome at these community yoga classes. Bring your own mat/towel/blanket or practice right in the grass.
