DTSB'S Street Performer's Paradise April 5 First Fridays
April 4, 2013 — South Bend IN, – DTSB’s April 5th First Fridays theme is “Street Performer’s Paradise” and the streets of downtown South Bend will come alive from 5:00-9:00 pm with live music, visual arts creation, demonstrations, jugglers, dance performances, and more:
•The State Theater hosts “Shimmy & Shake at The State: Zumba-thon to benefit the Center for the Homeless.”
•Chicory Café will have a New Orleans inspired mime/jester outside and smooth jazz piano from Marian Emery inside the café.
•Piser Designs will host juggling 5 minute juggling lessons from 6-8 p.m.
•South Bend Brew Werks will be performing the art of brewing in the streets of downtown South Bend.
•Mystic Moon Magick will have a hypnotist performing in various parts of downtown South Bend.
•Junk Evolution makes wedding planning a snap with their “Wedding Planner” theme and party to go with it. Special guest talks from Cindy Lindborg of Luna Moth Vintage Rentals and Therapeutic Indulgence will be on hand to help educate how to relax during the stressful wedding planning season.
•Kathy Reddy White will perform the art of tile making from 6:30-7:30 at CircaArts.
•The Kroc Center will have their Fitness Performance Trainers host Hip Hop from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. and Boot Camp from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. The Kroc Center Singing Company will perform and RJ Kroc will be on hand to say hello to the kids. Enjoy all performances with $1 popcorn.
•The Music Village is hosting face painters, uni-cyclists, balloon animal artist, and street musicians in the Woodward Court lot (weather permitting: will be inside The Music Village in the basement of the JMS building if weather prevents outdoor performance).
•Mobile art exhibit of Julian Alcantar’s abstract paintings on Washington and Michigan St.
•Merriman’s Playhouse will set up a piano on the Jefferson & Michigan for anyone to play.
•Enjoy poetry readings from local poet, Shaun Christensen, in front of Bruno’s Pizza.
•Local musician/ artist Anival Fausto will be creating paintings outside Jimmy John’s.
•“Juggling with John” street jugglers in the KeyBank Plaza on Jefferson and Michigan St.
•Ignite Body Art will be in front of The South Bend Chocolate Café creating human artworks.* (cost associated)
•Make your own Sidewalk Chalk Art on the southwest corner of Washington & Michigan.
•Bicycle Gallery and Body Art will have an exhibit of Aaron Ryan’s art and spoken word poetry. Also enjoy performances by fire-spinners, hula-hoopers and drumming from Rhythmworks!
•The Notre Dame Juggling Club will be performing in the main lobby of The Century Center from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

•CJ’s will be cooking burgers outside (weather permitting), inside you can find bartenders flipping and tossing bottles “cocktail” style to make your favorite drinks.
•Baker’s Bar & Grille (located in The DoubleTree Hilton Hotel) and Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant offers 10% your meal off every First Friday.
•At Café Navarre ask your server about their appetizer feature between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and themed $5.00 cocktail.
•The View will be running New Orleans inspired drink specials: $4 hurricanes, $4 bomb specials, as well as $1 off top shelf drinks.
•Tippecanoe Place Restaurant features half off bottle night every First Friday (from a selected list).
•Edible Arrangements receive 50% off a box of 12 dipped fruit pieces (pick up orders only).
There will also be free TRANSPO trolley rides from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. TRANSPO trolleys will stop at Junk Evolution/CircaArts, South Bend Chocolate Café, The Music Village, and The Kroc Center every 15 minutes.
