South Bend Civic Theatre takes you back to school with the Kids4Kids production Sideways Stories from Wayside School
July 27, 2012 — South Bend Civic Theatre presents the Kids4Kids production of Sideways Stories from Wayside School August 17-26 in the Warner Studio Theatre.
Adapted for the stage by John Olive from the popular book series, Newberry award winner Louis Sachar invites you into Wayside School – the craziest school with the strangest teachers ever! Students try and survive each day under threat of being turned into apples or disappearing on the nonexistent 19th floor. Zany and fun, this play takes all of our school anxieties and brings them to colorful, crazy life!
Director Joshua Napierkowski (SBCT’s The Adventures of Nate the Great, The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley Jr) leads talented youngsters Soren Campbell, Caroline Carrier, Elizabeth Carrier, Clare Costello, Wilhelmena Dreyer, Brendan Hayner-Slattery, Erin Joines, Cali Katzenberger, Wyatt Katzenberger, Andrew Lester, Miranda Manier, Siôn Shepley, and Ethan Soloveychik.
Director Napierkoswki describes the play: “Sideways Stories takes on the life of a SNL sketch show for kids. Each scene of the production introduces you to a quirky member of a classroom which lives on the thirtieth floor of Wayside School, and follows their struggle to survive in a classroom with evil teachers, disgusting concoctions in the cafeteria, and a blood thirsty cow. This fast paced production will make both you and your children laugh till it hurts, scream in terror, and leave you wishing for more. So climb up to the thirtieth floor and join SBCT kids4kids production of Sideways Stories of Wayside School. Just remember to be on your best behavior or else Miss Gorf will wiggle her ears…...”
